Two recent crane accidents have prompted Worksafe B.C. to call for a safety review of the construction industry in British Columbia.
Worksafe spokesman Scott McCloy says although the industry has a strong safety record, two recent crane incidents necessitated the meeting.
Construction-crane industry officials will meet with Worksafe in September to discuss safety procedures.
McCloy says calls for a meeting went out after a crane collapse snarled traffic on Highway 1 in Surrey on Tuesday.
A second accident happened Friday, when a North Vancouver worker was sent to hospital with unknown injuries after an accident involving a load caught on a dock.
The man fell 10 metres.
That accident occurred at Vancouver Pile Driving, the same company that operates the crane involved in the Surrey incident.
