A woman riding a scooter in Delta during Monday morning’s rush hour was killed after colliding with a pickup truck.

Both the scooter and rider were thrown up to 50 metres after being clipped by a silver pickup truck, which was travelling south on Highway 17.

The woman was on 52nd Street turning south onto the highway when the collision occurred.

She was air lifted to hospital but died from her injuries.

RCMP Cpl. Robert McDonald said alcohol is not a factor in the crash but it’s still unclear who had the right of way.

The highway was closed in both directions as police investigated.
