These were the most-borrowed books from Vancouver libraries in 2024
What have Vancouverites been reading in 2024? The Vancouver Public Library has released its lineup of the books that kept flying off the shelf this year, which can serve as inspiration for bookworms’ 2025 reading lists.
For adults, non-fiction books took the top three places. The number one most-borrowed book for the second year in a row was self help collection 101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think by Brianna West. In second was Indigenous botanist Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass—2022’s most popular book—and Britney Spears’ memoir the Woman in Me took the third place spot.
Among teenagers, YA fantasy novels dominated the list, with four books from wildly popular author Sarah J. Mass making the cut.
Graphic novels were the go-to reads for kids in 2024, with all top 10 titles being comics. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Baby-Sitters Club series proved to be the biggest hits.
