BURNABY - Substitute Edward Johnson scored a minute after coming on in the second half as the Austin Aztex fought back to tie the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-2 in USSF Division-2 soccer action Sunday.
Yohance Marshall had the other goal for Austin (13-3-7), while Cornelius Stewart and Ridge Mobulu replied for Vancouver (9-3-13).
Johnson came on in the 79th minute for Michael Callahan and had an immediate impact, heading home Leonard Griffin's free kick past Whitecaps goalkeeper Jay Nolly to tie the score 2-2.
Vancouver took the lead in the 16th minute when Stewart raced past the Austin defence and beat Aztex 'keeper Miguel Gallardo.
Austin tied things in the 44th minute after Vancouver failed to clear an Aztex corner. Randi Patterson nodded a ball across goal to Marshall, who headed home to make it 1-1 at halftime.
Vancouver retook the lead in the 52nd minute when Mobulu found himself in alone and slid a shot past an onrushing Gallardo.
