The Vancouver Police Department is asking for help identifying a man they consider a person of interest in an attempted sex assault of a 19-year-old woman.
The teen was walking by herself on a trail in the 3500-block of Marine Drive in south Vancouver on Tuesday night around 11:15 p.m. when she was approached by a man who tried to drag her further into the heavily-wooded path.
A passerby heard their struggle and scared the man away. The suspect ran east along Marine Drive.
Investigators are hoping to speak with a man seen in a surveillance video taken at the 22nd Street SkyTrain station around 11:40 p.m. that night.
He is dressed in a blue shirt and jeans and frameless glasses. In the video he is seen exiting the train onto the station platform.
Anyone with information is asked to call the VPD Sex Crimes Unit at 604-717-2648 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
