The City of Vancouver is inviting hockey fans to a public celebration this Sunday to cheer on the Canucks as they face the San Jose Sharks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
Hamilton Street will be closed from Georgia to Robson from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. so fans can gather and watch the game on a big screen at the CBC building.
Music and face painting will also be available.
The city describes the event as a "fun, family-friendly way to enjoy the game and cheer on the team with friends, neighbours and other families."
If successful, further games could be aired at the same location.
The Commodore Ballroom has also announced it will open its doors to fans who want to watch the game on the venue's three massive screens. Early registration for Sunday's game is sold out, but extra space could become available for those who show up early.
Entry is free, but attendees are encouraged to donate to the Canucks for Kids Fund, and fans must be 19 or older to attend.
