Police are looking for clues into the death of a man whose body was discovered behind the Sandman Hotel in Richmond Saturday night.

“At this stage we don’t even know the identity of the man, or whether this death is suspicious or not,” Richmond RCMP Cpl. Stephanie Ashton said. “The investigation is in the early stages and we’re trying to figure out who he is.”

Shortly after 9 p.m. police were called to the 10000 block of St. Edwards Drive after staff at a restaurant discovered the body.

The man is believed to be in his late 20s or early 30s and of Asian descent.

Police are asking anyone with information about who the man is or any of the circumstances leading up to his death to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The RCMP serious crime unit will be at the scene for most of Sunday investigating the death.
