Comments from Ivanka Trump at the opening of a new hotel south of the border have created confusion over when the Trump-branded tower in Vancouver will open its doors.
Speaking at the opening of a tower in Washington, D.C., Trump told reporters that the hotel and residential tower on West Georgia Street would be opening "next month."
The 34-year-old is the executive vice president of development and acquisitions for the Trump Organization, a company run by her father Donald Trump.
But the tower actually won't be opening for several months, according to staff in Vancouver.
CTV News called a number listed for the Vancouver hotel on Wednesday, and the woman who answered the phone said the building is due to open on Jan. 5, 2017.
"We did originally plan to open at the end of this year, however it will be the start of next year," she said.
The hotel's website appears to confirm that opening date: Guests who wish to book a room online cannot book before Jan. 5.
The woman CTV News spoke to said they're waiting for all of the outlets within the property to be ready before opening its doors.
CTV News also reached out to the building's developer for clarification on the conflicting dates, but has not heard back.
