Traffic is moving again on Highway 97 through Oliver, just days after tonnes of mud and debris covered the road and wiped out five homes and several properties in the south Okanagan.

Reopening of the road comes as the provincial government has announced a review of the circumstances leading up to the Sunday afternoon slide on Testalinden Creek.

Deputy Solicitor General David Morhart and the Conservation Officer Service will work together on the probe that's expected to be completed by mid-July.

The province confirms the torrent was unleashed after the collapse of an earthen dam holding back a small reservoir on Crown land -- but it says a local ranch owner holds the rights to the dam and is responsible for any maintenance.
