Mounties are searching for a pair of jewelry thieves who busted into a mall in Metro Vancouver and made off with more than $200,000 in merchandise.
Surveillance cameras caught the men breaking into the Hudson’s Bay department store at the Willowbrook Mall in Langley by backing a black Toyota pickup truck into the doors.
Two men in hoodies can then be seen smashing glass jewelry display cases with a crowbar and stuffing the valuables into what appears to be a duffel bag.
Both thieves managed to flee the scene.
Mounties said the brazen heist took place in the early morning hours of April 7, and that a similar break-in was committed at the Hudson’s Bay store on Barnet Highway in Coquitlam two days later.
Weeks later, officers have yet to track down the culprits, and the RCMP is asking for anyone who may know the men to come forward.
The suspects caught on camera are both described as being roughly 5’10” tall with medium builds. One wore a grey hoodie, sweat pants, gloves and white shoes, while the other wore a black hoodie with a beige jacket, jeans, and a mask.
The Toyota pickup truck used in the theft also likely sustained significant damage to its rear, according to Mounties.
Anyone with information on the heists is asked to contact the Langley RCMP at 604-532-3200 or Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS to remain anonymous.
