Mounties in British Columbia have laid charges against a teenaged boy in connection to an alleged gang rape at a rave party east of Vancouver two weeks ago.
The 16-year-old is accused of taking photos during the Pitt Meadows incident and posting them on social networking sites.
The boy, who appears in Port Coquitlam Provincial Court Wednesday, faces charges for the production and distribution of child pornography. He is not charged in the actual sexual assault. Additional pornography charges against an 18-year-old boy are also being considered.
Last week, police said two witnesses had come forward to say what they saw at the Sept. 10 party, but pleaded for much more co-operation in the case.
Investigators originally believed that between five and seven people watched the 16-year-old girl as she was sexually assaulted.
Police now say "several" men may have been involved in the actual assault, but said the exact number has not yet been determined.
It's alleged that the victim was drugged and raped repeatedly by partygoers as onlookers snapped photos that were then posted and shared online.
Mounties believe the girl was likely impaired by the so-called "date-rape" drug, GHB.
