The first city council meeting for newly minted Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson was held Tuesday.
And contrary to expectations, he didn't get an easy ride.
Despite the smiles before the start of the meeting, only half the motions put on the agenda by his party were passed.
The rest were put forward, so the public could have input.
The lone N.P.A member of council also criticized Robertson for making spending commitments without getting them approved first.
"The mayor can make recommendations, the mayor can come up with ideas, the mayor can run on certain plans and so on, and those are all things that we expect mayors to do. But the mayor must bring it to council," said Coun. Suzanne Anton.
There was also no word on when an open council meeting will be held into the $100 million Olympic Village loan guarantee.
