RCMP in Surrey, B.C. are investigating two separate overnight shootings that happened just an hour apart.
One man was shot just past 11 p.m. inside a home near 130th Street and 108th Avenue in what police believe is a targeted attack.
The house is well known to police because of "low-level" drug activity. The victim was rushed to hospital, where he is currently listed in serious condition.
"We're quite concerned that he's going to suffer long-term effects given that the wound appears to be quite substantial," said RCMP Insp. Dave Attfield.
Police are canvassing the area in hopes of locating people who may have been inside the home at the time.
The second shooting happened just after midnight in a home near 130th Street and 68th Ave. in the Newton area of Surrey.
No one was injured, but several people and vehicles were seen speeding from the scene after shots were heard.
Aided by a police dog, a Surrey RCMP officer located a man they believe is associated with the house. Police found several shell casings in the area and have two people in custody.
Police believe it was a targeted attack.
There have been 19 shootings this month in B.C.'s Lower Mainland -- eight of them fatal.
