Premier Gordon Campbell has called two Vancouver area byelections for October 29.
The Vancouver-Burrard seat was vacated by Liberal Lorne Mayencourt, who resigned in September to become a candidate in the current federal election for the Conservative party.
The Vancouver-Fairview riding has not had an MLA since New Democrat Gregor Robertson resigned in July to run in the race for Vancouver mayor.
With the two vacant seats, the current standings in the B.C. legislature are Liberals 45, New Democrats 32.
All B.C. voters go to the polls in the province-wide election set for May 12 next year.
