Delta Police have named the man shot dead on Monday night near the Delta Golf Course.
Sukhwinder Dhaliwal of Abbotsford was found lying on the ground near his grey 2005 Cadillac. Police said the 32-year-old's death was the result of a targeted hit they described as "a gang-style shooting."
He was reported to have been shot in the head around 6:40 p.m. Monday night.
Dhaliwal was facing seven charges for drugs and firearms-related offenses at the time of his death.
Police spent the night searching for clues, with the investigation closing 64th Avenue to traffic, from the Highway 91 turnoff near the park. Highway 10 -- Ladner Trunk Road -- was closed to traffic at different locations from Highway 99 to Scott Road.
There are no suspects at this time. The call came in to 911 as a suspicious occurrence -- and police have been speaking to neighbours and looking for witnesses.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
This is the ninth fatal shooting in Metro Vancouver in the past month.
Last week, Prime Minister Stephen Harper visited Vancouver to fuel his government's push for Criminal Code changes that would sentence gangsters to longer stretches in prison.
