Surrey Mounties say they’ve dealt the local drug trade a significant blow after busting a suspected trafficking ring in a Newton trailer park.

Officers executed search warrants at four homes in the Town and Country Trailer Park in the 8200-block of King George Boulevard.

Sixteen suspects were arrested in the bust, and while four were later released, 12 suspects taken back to the Surrey RCMP detachment now face charges of trafficking and possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking, according to Sgt. Dale Carr.

RCMP alleged the homes had been active in the ongoing trafficking of methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

“This is just part of our ongoing sustained pressure on criminal activity and high-risk locations that we’ve identified,” said Carr. “We have a number of them throughout the city and we’re going to continue the pressure.”

The homes have been boarded up and served with “do not occupy” stickers.

The bust comes after weeks of investigation involving some undercover work by Surrey RCMP’s drug section and crime reduction unit, Carr said.
