Surrey, B.C. student Sean Bajwa still can't believe what happened to him on Sunday afternoon while playing basketball with friends at his elementary school.
Two pit bulls left the11-year-old with deep wounds to his head, legs and arms, which has since required three hours of surgery and over 100 stitches.
"All of a sudden I feel this crunch from my left," he said, recalling the traumatic incident in an interview with CTV.
"The brown one, I remember, he was scratching my back and he was ripping my skin off of my face."
Bajwa was attacked outside his local elementary school when a neighbour heard the screams and raced to help.
"When they were biting me, I thought it was a dream, a nightmare," Bajwa said.
Neighbour Jason Slezak said he had to bash the dog twice in the head with a baseball bat to force it to back off.
"When I got the dog off him, his face and shirt were covered in blood," Slezak told CTV News.
Bajwa plans to thank Slezak for saving his life.
The Surrey SPCA is now holding the dogs pending the outcome of its investigation. Depending on what the SPCA finds, the owners may be able to get their dogs back after paying a $5,000 fine or they could agree to have the dogs euthanized.
