A pilot suffered a broken leg after crashing his home-built plane at the Delta Heritage Airpark Sunday morning.

Witnesses said the Zodiac plane seemed to have issues after taking off at around 11:30 a.m., touched down, then took off again before crashing into the weeds.

The 38-year-old pilot, whose name has not been released, was the only occupant in the plane and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Preliminary investigations found that no external factors or issues with the plane contributed to the accident, and the Transportation Safety Board was advised of the crash, according to Delta Police.
