NANAIMO, B.C. - Police in Nanaimo, B.C., say one person is dead, one is missing and another is back on shore after a recreational diving accident.
The incident occurred in the late afternoon near Snake Island, a short boat ride from Departure Bay.
Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong of the Nanaimo RCMP says police and Canadian Coast Guard vessels attended the scene.
She says coast guard divers are in the water attempting to locate the missing diver.
Armstrong says investigators are also interviewing the diver who is now back on shore.
