A New Westminster, B.C. police officer who once worked as a high school liaison has pleaded guilty to impaired driving and been fined $1,000.

Forty-seven-year-old Const. Tomi Hamner was off-duty on Oct. 18 driving an unmarked police vehicle when it struck a sign on Highway 1 in North Vancouver.

In addition to the fine, Hamner has lost her licence for one year.

She is one of five police officers in the Vancouver region who've been accused of drunk driving, including a Mountie who was charged after an accident in Delta killed a 22-year-old man in October.

One of the incidents dates back more than a year and involved an off-duty Mountie in Richmond, but was only revealed this month.

A North Vancouver Mountie and a Vancouver police officer also face impaired charges.
