The BC New Democratic Party launched an online ad Thursday attacking the candidates running for leadership of the BC Liberal party.
The 30-second YouTube video, which will circulate via email and paid online advertising, shows photos of the six Liberal candidates being fed into a photocopier.
When the images exit the copier, they have turned into black-and-white photos of Premier Gordon Campbell.
BC NDP provincial secretary Jan O'Brien said that the aim of the ad is to show that all the candidates were key players in Campbell's cabinet.
The ad calls Campbell's economic policies ‘reckless' and blames the Liberals for ‘an era of record child poverty.'
But O'Brien says the ad doesn't attack Campbell or the candidates running for premier of B.C.
"I don't think it's nasty at all," she said. "I think the ad is good humoured."
The BC Liberals will select their new leader on Feb. 26.
The BC NDP will hold their own leadership vote on April 17. Adrian Dix, Mike Farnworth, Harry Lali, John Horgan, Nicholas Simons and Dana Larsen are running for leader.
Dix announced Thursday in a press conference that Joy MacPhail, former politician and longtime member of the BC NDP, will be endorsing his campaign.
MacPhail said she wanted to take an active role in the leadership race and after careful consideration felt that supporting Dix was a clear choice.
