Is it simple political infighting or a big Falcon deal?

The B.C. New Democrat party is taking aim at BC Liberal leadership hopeful Kevin Falcon in a new website dedicated to everything they dislike about him.

Calling him Gordon Campbell's "Golden Boy," www.falconkidding.me is intended to remind voters of Falcon's strong political support of the outgoing premier, says NDP Provincial Secretary Jan O'Brien.

"For 10 years, Kevin Falcon has been Campbell's golden boy in Victoria, his go-to guy to get the dirty jobs done," O'Brien said in a statement issued to media Friday.

"The reality is that Kevin is an extremist who looks up to ultra-conservative leaders like Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan."

The site points to Falcon as being the architect of some of the BC Liberals' "most vindictive policies," and goes on call him mean-spirited for his handling of a bridge shutdown to save the life of a suicidal woman.

"If people are trying to kill themselves, it is tough to stop them," Falcon is quoted as saying in a 2008 newspaper article. "I am utterly perplexed how it can take six hours to deal with an elderly female."

The NDP says Falcon has tried to "rebrand" himself during the leadership campaign.

Meanwhile, Falcon received an endorsement Friday from another BC Liberal heavyweight, Finance and Health Minister Colin Hansen.

Liberal delegates will cast their ballots for their next leader in a conference next weekend.
