An Indian citizen living in B.C. on a work visa has been charged with child luring after he allegedly performed lewd acts on webcam for an undercover police officer that he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
Ram Reddy Yalaka, 36, was arrested in Burnaby on July 23 after a month-long investigation by Vancouver police.
Investigators say that Yalaka struck up an online relationship with an officer posing as a young girl, eventually sending her links to online porn and performing live sexual acts on webcam.
His arrest was part of the Vancouver Police Department's Predator Watch program, in which undercover officers pose as underage people online to catch suspected sexual predators.
Yalaka has been released from police custody on bail, and is scheduled to appear in Vancouver provincial court on August 6. He is married with a child, and police say that the Ministry of Child and Family Development has been notified of the case.
