Darnell Pratt, the man convicted of dragging gas station attendant Grant De Patie to his death, has been ordered back to jail following a parole board hearing Tuesday.
De Patie, 24, was dragged for seven kilometers after trying to stop Pratt, then 16-years-old, from driving away without paying for $12 worth of gas.
The National Parole Board decided that Pratt, 21, posed an undue risk to the public after he breached conditions of his statutory release.
He had been released to a Kamloops halfway house in June after serving two-thirds of six-year manslaughter sentence in the 2005 death of the Maple Ridge gas attendant.
Pratt disappeared after he was released; failing to return to his halfway house, and was arrested the next day.
His next statutory release date will be November 2011.
