OAK BAY, B.C. - Both sides in the bid to recall Liberal MLA Ida Chong are accusing each another of a dirty tricks campaign in the Victoria suburb of Oak Bay.
Colin Nielson, who heads an anti-HST recall effort against the science and universities minister, says Chong's campaign is leading a type of cloak and dagger operation against canvassers.
Neilson says Chong's so-called observers are following and intimidating people gathering signatures door-to-door and his group will call police if the threatening behaviour escalates.
Neilson also says accusations that information taken from people who sign the petition will be used for some other purpose is false.
Meanwhile, police are investigating a break-in that involved two damaged windows at Chong's anti-recall campaign office.
Lynne Henderson, with the anti-recall side, says the nastiness in the campaign goes far beyond what's typical during elections.
