Police are warning the public about a "new trend" in drug trafficking after seizing a bag of LSD-laced candy.
Mounties in Cranbrook, B.C., found the bag while executing a search warrant at a local home.
It was sent to an RCMP drug lab, which confirmed the bears were laced with Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, a psychedelic drug commonly known as LSD.
"Obviously if a young child were to consume such a gummy bear the effects could be very dangerous," Cpl. Chris Faulkner said in a release.
LSD is not considered addictive, but can affect a user's thinking process, visual perception, sense of time and identity and cause various physical side effects.
Faulkner said police want to make parents aware of the gummy bears, but not to cause a panic.
"Most persons who would purchase such an item want it for personal use," he said.
