B.C. New Democratic Party Leader Carole James is going, but she's not gone yet.
NDP provincial secretary Jan O'Brien says an interim party leader will be chosen in the new year.
O'Brien says members of the NDP caucus will meet in mid-January to make recommendations on a temporary leader, and that suggestion will go to the party's provincial council for final approval.
No date has been set yet for a leadership convention, but it will be the first time the party will hold a one-member-one-vote election for a new leader.
The party currently has about 13,000 members, and O'Brien expects that list to grow as the leadership race heats up.
As for the NDP's finances, O'Brien won't say how much is in the bank, but says they've paid off more than $1 million in election debt and she's convinced members will support the party to conduct the leadership race.
