Premier Gordon Campbell says he would be glad to step aside in his riding to make room for his successor, Christy Clark.
The outgoing B.C. premier says his former deputy premier would be welcomed and would win in a by-election in his Vancouver Point Grey riding.
Campbell was not at the Liberal leadership convention where Clark was victorious Saturday night, but he says he did meet with her Sunday.
The departing premier says there's a lot of work for everyone to do to keep the coalition that makes up the B.C. Liberal Party together.
He says Clark is excited to take up the post and the province should be excited, as well.
Campbell says the former radio talk show host will do a great job at the helm of the province -- a post she'll take up officially in mid-March, when Campbell will step down.
