A 16-year-old girl is in critical condition with serious head injuries after falling almost 10 metres down an icy bank on the edge of North Vancouver's Lynn Creek.
The teen fell while hiking yesterday with her brother and a friend.
Rescuers say she may owe her life to her elder brother because he slid down the slope to pull her from the icy water.
The youth then stayed with his sister for about 90 minutes until firefighters could lower a basket to lift the injured teen to a waiting ambulance.
