B.C. Place Stadium, which blew its top during a storm last year, may be getting a whole new roof in time for the 2010 Olympics.
B.C. Pavilion Corp., which runs the stadium in downtown Vancouver, says it's considering a new roof after a storm ripped a hole in the existing Teflon, air-supported covering and building staff overinflated it.
PavCo chairman David Podmore says no decision has been made on whether the new roof will be retractable, inflatable or open at the centre.
NDP tourism critic Norm MacDonald is raising concerns about the costs involved, saying the budget for the Vancouver convention centre expansion has almost doubled.
But Podmore says any costs linked to the upgrades will be recovered through the sale of property around the facility to condominium developers.
The stadium will be used for the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 Olympics.
