Right move? Wrong move? It needed to be done? Dark days ahead!
Pick an opinion. They've all been talked about ad nauseam on the radio for the last week. My drive to and from work went by quicker than Indy cars on Quebec Street years ago.
Never deny the passion the Canuck fan has. However, logic might be another thing. It doesn't matter where you fall in the Dave Nonis Firing fiasco, the verdict can't be rendered until a replacement is hired.
If that someone has the passion and leadership that is felt to be so missed in the organization -- and more importantly the hockey 'know-how' to see where this club was going -- everything will surely work out. Nonis' plan will continue, just without Dave at the helm.
Instead, Nonis will watch from the sidelines, or more likely from an NHL Front Office, because he won't be unemployed long. In fact, he is about to enter the 'Keenan Zone' of his career where he will be paid by two organizations, a year left from the Canucks and whoever hires him.
On the other hand, if his replacement is new to the role of GM and wants to be the mastermind of something new then be prepared: prepared to watch and wonder.
As you sit in your seats there is a good chance you'll see some new faces, but likely the same result. On the ice an entertaining product, but more times than not it will be frustration without the ultimate result - the Stanley Cup.
