VANCOUVER, B.C. - Tickets for the 2010 Winter Games will be on sale earlier than planned.
Vancouver's Olympic organizers say the first phase of ticket sales will begin on Oct. 3, eight days ahead of schedule.
Organizers say that will give people more time to purchase tickets before the first phase of ticket sales ends in November.
The new date was announced after organizers wrapped up their most recent board meeting today.
Organizers also said the launch of the torch relay route may not take place until early in 2009, although previous comments from organizers suggested the launch would happen this fall.
Chairman of the board Jack Poole says keeping the Olympic budget balanced and everything on track remains organizers' chief priority as the countdown for the Games continues.
