The force is strong in Vancouver.

The All Nippon Airways (ANA) Star Wars-themed Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner touched down at YVR Sunday, greeted by film fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the plane.

It was the North American debut of the passenger jet, designed to look like the famous droid R2-D2.

The plane is painted as part of a partnership deal between ANA, Japan’s largest airline, and The Walt Disney Company. In total, ANA will operate three Star Wars jets, including a route between Vancouver and Tokyo.

As part of the five-year promotion, its planes will also be decorated with Star Wars headrest covers, paper napkins and cups featuring the movies’ characters.

The landing is in anticipation of the upcoming release of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens. A trailer for the long-awaited film is being released Monday.
