Vancouver’s Robson Square is looking more like the streets of North Korea thanks to the latest Seth Rogen and James Franco movie.
The long-time friends and actors are teaming up for “The Interview,” a comedy about a talk-show host and his producer who become embroiled in a plot to assassinate the leader of the communist country.
The giant statue of Kim-Jong Il had passersby stopping and staring all morning while Franco and Rogen could be seen filming scenes in the distance.
The project marks a return to Vancouver for Rogen, who was born here in 1982.
He got his start in show business by landing a small part in the short-lived television show Freaks and Geeks, while still living in the B.C. city.
