Forensic teams will spend the day sweeping a home in Surrey’s Whalley neighbourhood after two women were found dead inside the residence Thursday evening.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says the women, aged 83 and 61, are related to one another.

Neighbours told CTV News they believe an elderly mother and her daughter live in the home.

Police confirmed a family member found the women inside the home on 111A Avenue and 136th Street, and alerted authorities.

Investigators say the incident does not appear a random act but foul play has not been confirmed.

Cpl. Dominic Duchesneau said autopsies are being order in order to determine how the women died.

“We do not believe there’s a third party involved,” he said in a statement.
