Yoga wear giant Lululemon is recalling the drawstrings on more than 185,000 jackets, tops, tunics and pullovers in Canada alone over concerns the items can cause injuries.
The Vancouver-based clothing company says it’s aware of five incidents or injuries related to the various items of clothing and is taking “necessary proactive action.”
“We are committed to making our product right for our guests and regret any inconvenience this may have caused them,” a spokesperson told CTV Vancouver.
Health Canada issued the recall in conjunction Thursday with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
"When the elastic draw cord with hard plastic or metal tips in the neck area of certain lululemon athletica tops is accidentally pulled or caught on something and released, it can snap back and make contact with the face area and result in injury," a statement from Health Canada reads.
The tops were primarily sold before 2014 and were made in Bangladesh, China and Peru. In Canada, 185,191 were sold, and an additional 133,288 were sold in the U.S.
Health Canada says consumers should either remove the draw cord or contact the company to request a new, elastic-free replacement draw cord.
Consumers can contact lululemon athletica’s Guest Education Centre toll free at (877) 263-9300.
