An alleged drug trafficker from Vancouver who gained recent infamy for being kicked out of a Raptors playoff game has been shot to death in downtown Toronto.

Well known to B.C. authorities, Sukh Deo was linked to the Independent Soldiers gang and was convicted of assault, impaired driving, driving while suspended and obstructing an officer.

Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, two men wearing construction vests opened fire on a white Range Rover parked near Yonge and Eglinton.

Witnesses heard six shots fired and the vehicle's front and rear windows on the driver's side were shattered.

Deo could not be revived, and two black men – the suspected shooters – fled the area in a black car. Considered armed and dangerous by police, the suspects are still outstanding.

The deceased moved to Ontario in 2013 to start a trucking company, but was involved with "large scale" drug dealing, say Toronto police.

Police sources told CTV Toronto that the 34-year-old was known as a "big time coke dealer," and one source described Deo as “an animal.”

Deo’s courtside antics at a recent Toronto Raptors game were broadcast to thousands of people. The Raptors fan was ejected from his prime courtside seat during Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals after heckling the referee.

Deo lived with his wife and two small children in a luxury home in nearby Oakville.

The home, purchased four years ago for $3.3-million, was raided by tactical officers in early 2014.

According to a police source, investigators seized a Bentley, Rolls Royce and Range Rover.

Deo was slated to go on trial next year on allegations of drug trafficking and possession of stolen property obtained by crime. He was out on bail at the time of his murder.

The Deo family also has a long history of criminal activity in British Columbia.

In 2005, his brother Harjit, an alleged member of the Independent Soldiers gang, was convicted of kidnapping after a drug deal went bad.

The victim was held in the Deo family's New Westminster home.

Their father Parminder is also wanted by Interpol in relation to drug smuggling charges filed in India last year.
