Reporters from CTV British Columbia took home two of the province’s highest journalism honours Wednesday night at the Jack Webster Foundation Awards in downtown Vancouver.

Jon Woodward won the Best TV News Reporting of the Year award for “Deadly Recovery,” his investigation into the privatization of drug recovery houses in B.C.

Woodward’s probe revealed at least eight recovering addicts died while trying to get clean in privately-run facilities between 2009 and 2012, which critics blame on a lack of government oversight.

Kelvin Redvers of CTV’s First Story received the Best TV Feature award for “A Home for Edgar,” a profile of aboriginal street artist Edgar Allan Rossetti.

Scott Roberts was nominated in the same category for “The Spill,” his in-depth look at Enbridge’s response to the catastrophic 2010 oil spill in Michigan’s Kalamazoo River.

Roberts travelled to the city of Marshall, Mich. to investigate the long-term consequences of the spill and survey the cleanup efforts conducted by Enbridge, the corporation behind the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline in B.C.

The Jack Webster Foundation, named after one of B.C.’s most legendary broadcasters, handed out the awards at the Westin Bayshore Hotel in a ceremony emceed by CTV News anchors Tamara Taggart and Mike Killeen. National Post columnist Christie Blatchford appeared as a guest speaker.
