Kamloops Mounties confirm a second person has been charged in the shooting of Cpl. Jean Rene Michaud, who remains fighting for his life in hospital.

One count of willfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer has been approved against 28-year-old Marquee Jasmin Klim, the RCMP said Friday.

Mounties told CTV News that Klim's accused of providing a false name.

Two other women were arrested following Wednesday’s shooting, but it’s unclear if either will be charged.

Michaud was shot while conducting a traffic stop around 2:45 a.m. He was rushed to Royal Inland Hospital for surgery, and underwent another operation on Thursday night.

The RCMP said the officer, who has more than 13 years’ experience, is still in the Intensive Care Unit.

The alleged gunman, 36-year-old Kenneth Michael Knutson, is charged with four counts, including attempted murder using a firearm,, aggravated assault of a peace officer, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and discharging a firearm with intent to wound, maim, disfigure or endanger life.

Knutson has a long criminal history in B.C. with convictions for assaulting a peace officer, theft, possession for the purpose of trafficking, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, and several more.

He has been remanded in custody pending a court appearance in two weeks.
