It is a truly mysterious day in Vancouver, B.C.
Mayor Sam Sullivan has declared today X-Files day in Vancouver. He made the declaration Thursday night at a pre-screening for the new X-Files movie - called "I Want to Believe."
Provincial officials presented series creator Chris Carter with a certificate of recognition for his contributions to B.C.'s film and television industry.
Tourism, Culture and Arts Minister Bill Bennett says Carter has been a driving force behind hundreds of productions in British Columbia since the first episode of the X-Files show was shot in Vancouver back in 1993.
"I Want to Believe" was filmed in Metro Vancouver and Pemberton, B.C., earlier this year.
It is the second feature film based on Carter's television series since the series ended in 1998. The stars of the TV series, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, reprise their roles as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
The movie opens Friday in major theatres across North America.
