Four Vancouver homes were badly damaged when a water main burst at around midnight on Tuesday.
Water flooded the streets and gushed into several houses near East 10th Avenue and Renfrew Street when the pipe burst. Some basements were covered by about a foot of water. The flooding also caused water to gush out of plumbing fixtures, including toilets.
"We suddenly had a flood here inside our houses [on] the whole block on Renfrew. We don’t know what to do right now. The basement of all these houses are really damaged,” said resident Eddie Marabe.
It took about an hour for city workers to shut off the water line. The cause of the break is unknown.
