A second protester involved in the ongoing demonstrations against Pidgin Restaurant has been arrested by Vancouver police.
Const. Brian Montague confirmed a suspect was arrested at home Tuesday morning and faces charges of assault, mischief and theft under $5,000.
Few details about the alleged offences have been released, and the name and gender of the protester will not be made public unless charges are approved by Crown counsel.
Last month, a 25-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly trying to chain the doors of the Downtown Eastside restaurant shut while staff were inside.
Robyn Claire Pickell has been charged with mischief.
The upscale Pidgin Restaurant has been at the centre of a local anti-gentrification movement since it opened early this year. Activists describe the eatery as a symbol of the displacements of low-income residents in the area.
Police issued a statement Tuesday saying the department facilitates hundreds of lawful demonstrations every year, but will act if protesters break the law.
