VICTORIA - A former Victoria tour bus driver has been convicted of causing a deadly collision in the B.C. capital.
A provincial court judge in Victoria has found Stephen Finnerty guilty of driving without due care and attention.
The Motor Vehicle Act conviction carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $2,000 dollar fine.
Twenty-seven-year-old Japanese visitor Yuka Imaizumi was hit and killed as she used a marked crosswalk at a busy intersection in downtown Victoria in August 2012.
In convicting Finnerty, the judge accepted Finnerty's testimony that he did not see the victim but rejected his claims that all the necessary checks had been done before pulling the bus into the intersection.
A date for sentencing has been set for April 24 in Victoria.
