Mission Secondary School was evacuated Tuesday morning for a bomb threat involving a threatening note.

Mission RCMP Sgt. Shaun Wright told CTV News it’s believed the note was found inside the school and it’s taking precautions to sweep the school with officers assisted by dog teams.  Officers arrived on scene at 11:05 a.m.

Paula Melvin with the Mission School board said all of the students were removed from the building as a precaution as RCMP investigated a potential bomb threat.

All the students are safe, she added.

"The school district is cooperating with the RCMP and they will provide any additional information," she said in a statement issued to CTV News.

It was initially hoped the students would be allowed back inside for afternoon classes, but a decision was made to send them home for the remainder of the day.
