Construction of the rapid transit Evergreen Line resulted in another Port Moody sinkhole Thursday evening, marking the third such occurrence since October.
The latest sinkhole opened up in the middle of rush hour, at the intersection of Clarke Road and Seaview Drive. A tunnel boring machine was underneath the intersection at the time.
Traffic was re-routed, and no injuries were reported.
Some residents living along the Evergreen Line route call the sinkholes “stressful and concerning,” adding that their lives have been significantly affected by the construction.
A tunnel boring machine is being blamed for all three sinkholes, which swallowed up ground in a Chateau Place parking lot in October and again just blocks away in early January.
