Suspects arrested, gun recovered after stolen vehicle flees police in Abbotsford, B.C.
Police say two suspects were arrested Wednesday and remain in custody after fleeing from a traffic stop and crashing a stolen vehicle in Abbotsford, B.C.
Officers had attempted to stop the car on the suspicion it was involved in the drug trade near Vedder Way and Lonzo Road shortly after 3 p.m.
The vehicle fled at high speed and crashed through a fence, the Abbotsford Police Department said in a statement on social media.
"Officers did not pursue the vehicle due to the reckless driving," the statement said.
A short time later, the suspect vehicle collided with two other cars at the intersection of Vedder Way and Marshall Road.
Investigators say the occupants of the cars were not injured in the crash.
The two suspects fled the collision scene on foot and were eventually located and arrested with assistance from police dog services.
The suspect vehicle was determined to have been stolen, police said.
"A search of the vehicle revealed a firearm inside," the statement added. "We appreciate the public's patience during the police response that caused traffic delays in the area."
