Police say it's not the first time they've been to a house where a fire broke out today, sending three people to hospital.

And even though they know it was industrial chemicals that started the fire in a residential home, police haven't made the link between the fire and a meth lab gone awry.

"Well at this point we're not saying it's a lab," said Cpl. Hundial of the Surrey RCMP. "It's very early on in the investigation and we're going to attempt to go safely into the residence."

Surrey RCMP were called to the house fire at 160th Street and 98th Avenue at around 2 p.m.

Sealing off the area, the hazardous materials unit investigated the residence. Police said they've been there before -- in May 2006 Surrey RCMP executed a warrant there and discovered a drug lab.

Three people were taken to hospital with burn injuries.

Police are continuing their investigation this evening, so 96th Ave to 100th Ave will be closed.

Some residents around the home have been asked to leave their homes.
