Residents on B.C.'s South Coast braced for flurries Tuesday as a sweeping frontal system was expected to usher in a significant amount of snowfall.
Environment Canada said snow over inland sections of the North and Central coasts would spread to the South Coast by the afternoon.
The agency issued a snowfall warning for the Lower Mainland, Sunshine Coast, East and Inland Vancouver Island, Howe Sound and Fraser Valley.
Forecasters said higher elevations in Howe Sound would see up to 20 centimetres of powder.
Another 10 to 20 centimetres of accumulation was expected in some inland areas, including Prince George, through Wednesday morning.
The snow was expected to change to rain on Wednesday as warmer air pockets spread inland.
