Second recall campaign approved by Elections BC

Elections BC has approved an application to recall Liberal MLA Don McRae in the riding of Comox Valley.

Craig James, Acting Chief Electoral Officer, announced in a press release that the petition will be issued Friday.

Registered canvassers will then start collecting the 19,000 signatures needed to trigger a by-election.

Kathryn Askew, the proponent, will have until March 11 to collect the signatures. Askew applied for the petition to protest McRae's support of the controversial Harmonized Sales Tax.

This is the second recall campaign launched by the anti-HST group. A campaign is currently underway to recall Oak Bay-Gordon Head MLA Ida Chong.
