A search is underway for two hikers missing in B.C.’s southern interior for more than two days.
Crews are looking for Lynne Carmody and Rick Moynan in Keremeos, around 100 km from Kelowna.
The pair left Cathedral Lakes Lodge around 10 a.m. Monday and were expected back by dinner time – but they never returned. The hikers are both believed to be between 50 to 60 years old.
The location where the hikers went missing is at an elevation of roughly 2,000 metres. Rob Braun, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, told CTV Vancouver that parts of the trail are considered “treacherous”.
“It can be very rugged and steep... [with] mountain peaks and mountain ridgelines that you can hike to,” says Braun. “There are places that are very treacherous and there are certainly long cliff drops and that sort of terrain.”
The search and rescue team is expected to resume their search around 10 a.m. Wednesday.
